THE "GOLDEN SCARAB", A
CHALLENGE FOR YOUTH: THE REBUILDING OF THE HALF-TRACK VEHICLE HAS
BEEN COMPLETED FOR CITROËN'S CENTENARY
The first vehicle in history to have crossed the Sahara in 1922,
Citroën's half-track named the 'Golden Scarab' (Scarabée d'Or) has
been the subject of a rebuilding project which began in
2016.
The replica has just been unveiled, on 13 May at the Museum of
Arts and Crafts in Paris, in the presence of the partners of the
educational project.
The half-track faithfully reproduced by engineering students and
pupils will take part in Citroën's centenary celebrations from
June, before participating in the 'Gathering of the Century' in
July.

Citroën is the historic partner of the educational project,
through various contributions: loan of the vehicle (K1 model, HP
Type B2 which was the first car to cross the Sahara in December
1922), financial, technical and logistical support, media coverage
of the adventure and unwavering commitment which has both made
possible and reinforced the impetus around
#thegoldenscarab. Above and beyond the rebuilding, the aim is to
display the 'new' Golden
Scarab alongside the historic vehicle during the Brand's centenary
celebrations in 2019, with in particular:
- THE CITROËN CENTENARY ANNIVERSARY EXHIBITION - (Paris, mid-June
2019): The 'new'
Golden Scarab will take part in the Parisian #Event which is still
under wraps to celebrate the birth of Citroën in Paris in 1919.
- THE JOURNEY TO THE WEST (Paris, 18 July 2019 at 8:00): Going up
les Champs-Elysées from
la place de la Concorde towards the CCFA (French Automobile
Manufacturers Committee), place
de l'Etoile, towards la Ferté Vidame.
- THE GATHERING OF THE CENTURY (la Ferté Vidame, from 19 to 21
July 2019): The vehicle
will be presented in driving mode, allowing demonstrations to be
performed.

open-air exhibition, then in July in le Perche, for the Gathering
of the Century."

For the record, the rebuilding of #thegoldenscarab began in June
2016.
After having been presented on the Citroën stand at the
Rétromobile Show in February 2017,
this bold project was displayed at the Museum of Arts & Crafts, on
the occasion of the Sciences Festival in October of the same year.

The presentation of the replica of #thegoldenscarab by those
involved in the project and its partners is the chance to share
the details and stories about the implementation of the rebuilding
project which has brought together 160 students and pupils, plus
40 teachers, all no doubt just as passionate as the team involved
in the crossing of the Sahara in 1922. It is also
the chance to (re)discover the team built by André Citroën around
10 men and a dog, Flossie... who inspired to the cartoonist Hergé
the character of Milou the dog to accompany Tintin in his
adventures!

EL "ESCARABAJO
DE ORO", UN DESAFÍO PARA LOS JÓVENES: LA RECONSTRUCCIÓN DEL
VEHÍCULO HALF-TRACK SE HA COMPLETADO PARA EL CENTENARIO DE CITROËN
El primer vehículo en la historia que cruzó el Sahara en 1922,
el media oruga se llamó "El escarabajo de oro" (Scarabée d'Or) ha
sido objeto de un proyecto de reconstrucción que comenzó en 2016.
La réplica se acaba de presentar, el 13 de mayo en el Museo de
Artes y Oficios de París, en presencia de los socios del
proyecto educativo. El 'Media Oruga" reproducida fielmente por
estudiantes de ingeniería y alumnos participará en Las
celebraciones del centenario de Citroën desde junio, antes de
participar en la 'Reunión de la
Siglo 'en julio.

Citroën es el socio histórico del proyecto educativo, a través de
varias contribuciones: préstamo de el vehículo (modelo K1, HP Tipo
B2, que fue el primer automóvil en cruzar el Sahara en diciembre
1922), apoyo financiero, técnico y logístico, cobertura mediática
de la aventura y compromiso inquebrantable que ha hecho posible y
reforzado el ímpetu en torno a #thegoldenscarab. Más allá de la
reconstrucción, el objetivo es mostrar el 'nuevo' Golden Scarab
junto con el vehículo histórico durante las celebraciones del
centenario de la marca en 2019.
- LA EXPOSICIÓN DE ANIVERSARIO DEL CENTRO DE CITROËN - (París,
mediados de junio de 2019): El 'nuevo' Golden Scarab participará
en el #Event parisino, que todavía está en secreto para celebrar
el
Nacimiento de Citroën en París en 1919.
- EL VIAJE AL OESTE (París, 18 de julio de 2019 a las 8:00):
subiendo a los Campos Elíseos desde la place de la Concorde hacia
el CCFA (Comité Francés de Fabricantes de Automóviles), place de
l'Etoile, hacia la Ferté Vidame.
- EL ENCUENTRO DEL SIGLO (la Ferté Vidame, del 19 al 21 de julio
de 2019): el vehículo. Se presentarán en modo de conducción, lo
que permite realizar demostraciones.
"En este año del centenario de Citroën, la reconstrucción de #thegoldenscarab
adquiere una nueva dimensión. Es un proyecto que André Citroën
hubiera apreciado. Estamos orgullosos de tener
apoyado y tomado parte en esta nueva aventura, un proyecto
educativo que hoy entrega una Réplica realista de la media oruga
original.
Cien años separan a los arquitectos de estos dos vehículos, pero
la misma pasión conduce. ¡ellos! Visite los eventos de las

junio en París durante una exposición al aire libre, luego en

Para el registro, la reconstrucción de #thegoldenscarab comenzó en
junio de 2016.
Después de haber sido presentado en el stand de Citroën en el
Rétromobile Show en febrero de 2017. Este audaz proyecto se
exhibió en el Museo de Artes y Oficios, con motivo del Festival de
Ciencias en octubre del mismo año.
En esta ocasión, el 'Silver Crescent' (Croissant d'argent), otra

La presentación de la réplica de #thegoldenscarab por parte de los
involucrados en el proyecto y su socios es la oportunidad de
compartir los detalles e historias sobre la implementación del
proyecto de reconstrucción que ha reunido a 160 estudiantes y
alumnos, más 40 profesores, todos no duda tan apasionada como el
equipo involucrado en el cruce del Sahara en 1922. También es la
oportunidad de (re) descubrir el equipo construido por André
Citroën alrededor de 10 hombres y un perro, Flossie ... quien
inspiró al dibujante Hergé el personaje de Milou el perro para
acompañar a Tintín en su
aventuras!
